BRISBANE NORTH HOCKEY CENTRE SET FOR UPDATE

Member for Lilley Anika Wells today has announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver $600,000 to upgrade the Brisbane North Hockey Centre at Chermside.

This $600,000 election commitment will fund replacement of field lighting, improved spectator facilities and replacement fencing.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Minister Wells said the hockey centre supports hockey clubs across Brisbane’s northside for training and development, catering for players from Under 7 through to Masters teams.

“In December last year, one of the lighting poles on field 1 failed and fell over,” Minister Wells said.

“An assessment revealed that urgent repairs were needed, so I am pleased to announce that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver funding to make the field safe again.

“There is also a need for better shade and improved viewing areas for parents of juniors.

“The club has also experienced a number of break ins, so improved exterior fencing will help secure the complex from future damage.”

“As the Labor Member for Lilley I am so pleased to be delivering this much needed upgrade to benefit our next generation of hockey greats.”
